Many people adopt a 'wait and see' attitude about God...

They figure they will just wait and see if they 'wake up' somewhere after dying... Then, if the stories they've heard about God and judgment turn out to be true, these folks hope to justify themselves by pointing out: "Surely I must belong in heaven, because I'm not as bad as so and so..."

Unfortunately, this will turn out to be an extremely poor strategy.

If you've read the material on this site, you've seen that a place in heaven isn't a matter of being 'better than the next guy' or even of being 'good' at all... It's a matter of being perfect. 90

And there is only one way of becoming perfect...
Through faith in Y'shua / Jesus.

This is why God wishes everyone to experience both 'death' and the free gift of 'resurrection', through faith in Y'shua / Jesus now.
It is only through death and resurrection in him that we can be made perfect and thus have a place in heaven.

This being the case, if you have become convinced that the bible's story is the truth, you may wish to take advantage of the 'restored relationship with God' that its story offers... The offer of 'restored relationship' and the means of attaining it, are defined in the following passages ---

John 3:16-17 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (v.17) For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved".

John 10:9 "... I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved..".

John 14:6 "... I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me".

John 6:37 "... the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out"

John 6:47 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life".

John 5:24 "...he who hears My word, and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life..".

John 11:25 "... he who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live".

If you choose to believe, a quick prayer is a great way to express your belief, because as the bible says ---

Matthew 12:34 "...out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks".

The prayer needn't be fancy...
Just something in which you express your belief that Jesus died in your place... for your sins.
Just a quick and simple prayer in which you express your personal acceptance of His sacrifice.

If you have believed and prayed such a prayer, you now hold the key to heaven...
When you get to the 'pearly gates', you can say ---
"I'm home!... The "second death" has no power over me, because I have already experienced it in Christ".

Or to put it as the bible does ---
Galatians 2:20 "I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me ..."

 

If you have chosen to believe, you should also note that you have embarked upon a new career...
You are now a "priest".

As the following passage says, you have become a member of ---

1 Peter 2:9 "...a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light..".

Note the words, "a royal priesthood"...

As you may recall, the priests of Israel had the responsibility of ministering to the needs of those 'outside'. And similarly, your job as a believer is to do the same. There are many, many people who do not believe in Y'shua / Jesus and who are thus 'outside'. As a priest, you now share in the responsibility of bringing the bible's message to them.

Believers are to ---
Mark 16:15 "...Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature".
